This past Saturday, September 28, 2024, I had the honor of representing Brazil at the Ignite: A Global Street Food, Fire & Light Festival held at Union Square in Somerville. I was invited by the incredible Anthony Baum, whose vision and dedication to promoting cultural and culinary diversity turned this event into a truly unique celebration.
At the festival, I had the opportunity to demonstrate how I prepare the signature empadas of Golden Empadas Co., and the response was overwhelming! I brought a generous amount of empadas for tasting, but to my surprise, they disappeared within seconds. This not only highlighted how well the empadas were received but also how a small piece of Brazil can captivate hearts (and taste buds) from diverse cultures.
A special shoutout goes to Anthony Baum. His passion for creating a space where people can connect through food and traditions is nothing short of inspiring. He believed in me and gave Golden Empadas Co. the opportunity to shine alongside other cultures and culinary talents. His impeccable organization and contagious energy made the Ignite Festival an unforgettable experience.
The festival, filled with cultural performances, delicious food from around the world, and the electrifying energy of fire and dance shows, was a sensory delight. Seeing the audience’s reaction to the empadas and sharing stories about Brazilian cuisine were undoubtedly some of the most rewarding moments of my journey as the founder of Golden Empadas Co.
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Anthony for believing in my work and for providing such a special platform for chefs and cooks from all over to showcase their cultures. Events like the Ignite Festival remind us of the power of food to bring people together, break barriers, and tell stories.
